This Knowledge Hub was developed under the 3R project funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Amman and implemented by the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), IHE Delft and Acacia Water. The 3R project focuses on integrating water harvesting as part of a comprehensive catchment-based approach and climate adaptation strategy to enhance Jordan’s resilience. It builds on the findings of the Rain Water Harvesting scoping study (2021) funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Amman. Based on the study’s clear recommendations, this project addresses both technical and policymaking levels. Additionally, it emphasizes capacity building and participatory methods as essential components of its scope.
The report presents the socio-economic and biophysical baseline assessment of the Mafraq Region required for the implementation of 3R interventions

Implementation and monitoring plan Jaber sub-catchment Mafraq
Report
This document presents the implementation plan for the Jaber sub-catchment in Mafraq. Within this implementation plan the sub-catchment’s background and key issues are shortly described, together with the tools and analyses used to assess the 3R potential, focussing on harvesting water for agricultural use. Based on this, conceptual designs of different types of 3R measures (including their siting) suitable for the particular sub-catchment are proposed

Scoping study: Rainwater Harvesting in the Kingdom of Jordan
Report
This report presents a scoping study on the potential of Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) in Jordan, one of the most water-scarce countries in the world. It evaluates existing interventions, identifies suitable technologies and focus basins (North Rift Side Wadis and Azraq), and outlines strategies for implementation based on environmental, social, and hydrological assessments. The study was funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN) in Amman with support of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
